Nillkin super frosted shield matte case has simple
and minimal look which is very nice and clean that a lot of people prefer over flashy and bulky look. I am a fan of this type of thin and light classic looking case. It's not built for ultimate drop protection but can provide some decent protection from small drops. Nillkin cases are very good in quality and their pricing also within budget. In this article I'm going to write in details about my experience of using the frosted shield matte version as an accessory for my OnePlus Nord which has a plastic frame.





Inside the box
A phone case is an accessory for your phone to protect it from scratch and drop related damage. We should not expect a lot from an accessory package other than good packaging and presentation. But anything can surprise you if it's done thoughtfully. Here the phone case comes with plastic packaging which is quite good. Inside there you will get the case, a paper card with some details and a little plastic phone stand. This is minimal packaging with that additional phone stand. But I didn't find the stand useful enough to actually use it because it's light and clumsy which feels kinda cheap and doesn't serve its purpose well.




Design & Build
I really like the design of this case. It's a nice balance of simple and clean design. If you don't like flashy funky looking cases then this minimal but elegant cla­ssic looking case will make you fall for it. The surface has salient point design which is really simple but cool to look at. This kind of design has a lot of benefits like it's water resistant, anti-skidding, anti-fingerprint, dust-proof and easy to clean. What they're claiming here is true enough because I've experienced those charac­teristics of this case in my daily usage.

The official name has frosted, shield and matte words on it. So it has frosted surface with protection and the matte cover of this Nillkin case was made by high pre­cision injection with imported environmentally friendly PC materials. The case is coated on both sides with dustless matte UV painting technology which looks and feels great. Frosting is rigid enough to offer great protection, yet flexible enough not to break off. I'm considering it as a hard case and it has some down­sides that I will write in later sections.

So a lot of good things are going on with the design, build, materials and protection. It actually feels soft in hand because of the outside coating even though it's a hard case. I think, like me a lot of people will like the design and the build quality is pretty good that doesn't look and feel cheap. It's offering very good overall value for money.


Fit & Finish
The case has a really tight fit with the frame of One­Plus Nord. I thought it would become a bit loose over time but that didn't happen. As it's a hard case and has tight fit, you need to put a lot of pressure to re­move the case. Be careful about that and don't put too much pressure in the middle of the display. I really love the finish of this case. It has smooth and curved edges which make it really comfortable to hold in hand. The surface has rubbery soft feel to it which is really nice. It looks and feels like a polished and re­fined product with good quality. Even though the fit and finish is really good, it's not perfect and has some problems that can make you think. Next section as well as later sections will tell you about the flaws.



Cutouts & Buttons
I found one of the mic cutouts is off positioned. I'm not sure that this kinda problem is with some units or not but clearly this is an issue that I don't like. There is no major problem with the port cutouts and they work just fine. I don't like the feel of the button clicks while using the case. It clicks okay but the button cutouts are made out of the same hard plastic material, so it takes a little bit of extra push and doesn't always click nice. Cutouts, ports and buttons are different for diff­erent phones so the precise positioning may vary.



Features & Protection
The camera cutout frame is actually 0.2 mm higher than the back shell to protect the lens from scratch. I really like the raised camera cutout border which looks really clean as it's only for camera lens area. I think it's a good implementation with a small camera bump. So minimal camera protection is there. This is a fros­ted hard case with precision injection using imported environment friendly PC materials. The case is coated with dustless matte UV painting technology on both sides. It has soft feeling outer surface which is really nice. It has useful features like water resistant, anti-skidding, anti-fingerprint, dust-proof and easy to clean. Also open mold system according to original device creates upgraded touch feelings and their nice salient dot design is really simple but unique.


It has decent drop protection but it'll not provide ul­timate drop protection for your phone. If you're afraid of drop related damage like screen and back glass damage then this case will leave you less protected. So you should look for drop proof case for maximum protection. Drop proof cases are much thicker which many of us don't like. This thin and light case has a little bit of leap over the screen surface, so the screen won't be in contact with the flat surface. Some pretty good protections are available in this case and overall those are making it a really appealing accessory that you can buy under budget price.


User Experience
The most important thing besides design and build is the user experience with the accessory. It has a prob­lem that can be a deal breaker for some people. I can not take it out from the phone easily because of its super tight fit with the frame. The case is pretty hard which makes it diffi­cult to remove. It's not easy like with a soft case for example, the stock free case with OnePlus Nord. If you remove your phone case pretty often then you're not gonna have a good experience with this. But other than this everything else comes with the user experience is excellent. It has soft fee­ling to the touch, the edges are smooth enough and curved, textured surface has enough grip to hold nicely and it doesn't get dirty easily.


Conclusion
I have already discussed about the pros and cons
of this case in details. I also shared my very own experience while using this case. I'm still using it and most of my experience with it is good enough to reco­mmend this case. It has some problems and issues but only one of them actually bothers me some­times. It's the hard to remove problem. This case has many cool features. The reason for choosing this case among a whole lot of other cases out there is the budget pricing and nice simple clean elegant design that I truly love.

The official price is around 12 USD but I think you can get it under 10 USD and even cheaper locally. I got it for around 7 dollars which is crazy. So overall it's a very good deal even at 10 dollars. The quality is up there with more expensive cases. You're not gonna be disappointed with what this case has to offer.
